David A. Schmid CPA

David Schmid is the international accounting leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, responsible for the firm's services to its clients' IFRS needs. David is based in PwC's national office in Florham Park, New Jersey. Over his 29-year PwC career, David has become one of PwC's most experienced partners in assisting clients with cross-border, capital-market transactions, and with complex and unique accounting needs, especially those involving IFRS. He has assisted dozens of clients in Europe and the United States with practical advice on carve-outs, purchase accounting, accounting conversions, initial public offerings, transaction support, creative financings, and structuring matters. His clients have included multi-national companies operating in sectors such as automotive, consumer products, energy, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunication. Prior to his current responsibilities, David led the Midwest Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory (CMAAS) team that is part of PwC's Transaction Services practice. CMAAS' subject-matter experts in US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC rules and regulations provide clients with deal support, IPO and financing assistance, and complex-accounting services. David also spent 14 years in the firm's audit practice in Chicago before spending nine years in London, first as a transaction services partner in PwC's Capital Markets Group and then as the group's European leader. David joined the Firm in 1984 upon graduating from the University of Illinois. David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a frequent lecturer on SEC and accounting matters.
