With over 20 years of healthcare information technology and telecommunications department turn-arounds and major platform implementation experience, Dave, serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Erlanger Health System. The Erlanger Health System (Vanderbilt Affiliated Health Network Organization) is an academic multi-hospital system with five hospitals based in Chattanooga: the University Hospital, Children's Hospital at Erlanger, Erlanger North Hospital, Erlanger East Hospital, and Erlanger Bledsoe Hospital, located in Pikeville, TN. Erlanger is the 7th largest public hospital in the United States and has been recognized as "Chattanooga's number one hospital" by U.S. News and World Report. He most recently served as SVP and CIO at Dimensions Health System in Cheverly MD. where he oversaw the insourcing of an ineffective outsourced IT department, set up the course correction path to stabilize an EMR “gone wrong” implementation resulting in serious patient safety issues, and created a model of partnerships between IT and clinical/administration staffs. Prior to Dimensions, he served as VP and CIO for Boston Medical Center in Boston MA, where he oversaw the turnaround of the information technology, telecommunications and clinical engineering functions, negotiated and implemented the EPIC EMR platform, while divisionally managing 250 employees. Dave has served in numerous IT executive roles including: Chief Technology Officer and Regional CIO roles with Catholic Health Initiatives in Denver, CO; Vice President of Information Systems at the University of Maryland Medical System; CIO at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Baltimore, MD; and CIO at the National Naval Medical Center “The Presidents Hospital” in Bethesda, MD. Dave has implemented large software platforms including, EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, McKesson, Lawson, Care Science and Varian, to name a few. Dave has served our country honorably as a medical service corps officer in the United States Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He holds a master’s in Business Administration from the City University in Seattle, Washington and a bachelor’s of science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida.
