Brian J. Cooney CCIFP

Brian J. Cooney, CCIFP Brian J. Cooney, CCIFP, is the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration at Barriere Construction Co., L.L.C. Barriere is a heavy and highway contractor, providing services in Southeastern Louisiana. Brian has been with Barriere since 1988 and has worked in the construction industry for twenty-six years. Prior to construction, Brian was employed in the capital equipment manufacturing industry for ten years. He is a graduate of Spring Hill College, in Mobile, Alabama, and received his MBA from Tulane University, in New Orleans, Louisiana. In June of 2006, he received the designation of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP), from the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals, Inc. Brian is the past National Secretary of the Construction Financial Manage-ment Association (CFMA). He has served as a National Director, in addition to serving on CFMA’s Conference Planning and Membership Committees. Brian has also served as Chairman of the Heavy Highway Special Interest Committee and the Succession Committee. Locally, Brian is a founding Member of the Southeast Louisiana Chapter and has served as President, Vice President, and Board Member. He received CFMA’s Debra Hahn Memorial Award in 2005. In May of 2009, Brian was named as the recipient of the Danny B. Parrish Outstanding Leadership Award. Brian is a member of the Willis National Advisory Committee, and he is also a Board Member of Mount Carmel High School, in New Orleans, LA. He has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences, including AGC, AICPA, and CFMA, covering topics related to equipment and emergency management. Brian was born in Detroit, Michigan, and attended high school in Cleveland, Ohio. Brian has been married for 26 years, and he and his wife have one daughter, one granddaughter, and one grandson.
