Barry Kanczuker is an Associate Chief Accountant in the office of the chief accountant (OCA) of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Barry’s responsibilities include following the activities of professional accounting standard setting bodies both within the United States and internationally, consulting with registrants on complex accounting and reporting matters, and participating in the development of the Commission’s and other standard setting bodies’ interpretation and rule proposals. His current areas of emphasis include revenue recognition, business combinations, and share-based compensation.

Prior to joining the SEC staff, Barry was a senior manager in the audit practice of KPMG LLP. Barry served clients, primarily in the technology and media industry, on a variety of topics including revenue recognition, business combinations, and share-based compensation. Barry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park. Barry is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
