Barbara Bouza is Co-Managing Director of Genslers +500-person Los Angeles office and a Firmwide Leader of their Health & Wellness and Life Sciences Practice Areas. Gensler is a global architectural, interior design, planning and consulting firm with approximately 5,000 professionals in 46 locations throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. As a licensed architect and LEED accredited professional, Barbara draws upon her experience in the design and strategic planning of highly technical environments and large-scale campus settings to broaden Genslers practice expertise and deliver a higher standard of innovation. Her broad range of clients include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, City of Hope, Dignity Health, Amgen, JPL/NASA, Sony Pictures Entertainment and DreamWorks Animation.

Barbara was honored by The Los Angeles Business Journal as the 2014 Executive of the Year: Women Making A Difference and was recognized by Real Estate Forum magazine as a Woman of Influence: California. Barbara was recently invited to speak on the topic of Managing the Firm: A Womans Perspective at the American Institute of Architects (AIA/LA) POWERFUL Women Leading Design symposium. In the community, she is actively involved with Girls Inc. and Dress for Success, and is a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects and the Women Presidents Organization.

Barbara led Gensler to become an Advocate Firm for Center for Health Design through its Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) program, advising the firm on how the physical environment can influence well-being of patients, staff and family and promote healing. Each year, Gensler proudly funds research programs of which Barbara has been a sponsor. These include Soul Centered Design - understanding how design can promote health and healing and better integrate the user experience; Rethinking Aging a survey of housing trends for active baby boomers, and Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry Trends, findings from key leaders in life sciences. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona and studied in the Graduate Diploma Program at the Architectural Association in London.
