Angela is the President & Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA). Most recently, she was an Executive Management Consultant providing enterprise risk management, internal audit and other risk advisory services. Prior to this role, she was a Partner in the audit, tax and advisory firm of KPMG LLP.
At KPMG, Angela was the Partner in Charge of Diversity for KPMG LLP Americas. In this role, she was responsible for leading the firm’s diversity strategy and fostering an environment of inclusion that embraced diversity among KPMG’s partners, employees, vendors and clients. She led the firm’s national diversity team as well as its diversity advisory board (DAB), which is comprised of partners who serve as co-chairs of KPMG’s six national diversity networks, focused on the recruitment, retention, and advancement of a diverse team of professionals at KPMG. While in this role and prior to, she led the MidAtlantic Advisory Services practice, focused on internal audit, risk and compliance services to clients in the public and commercial sectors. Prior to KPMG, she was the Inspector General of the District of Columbia; Director of Worldwide Internal Audit, and Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions at Corning, Inc.; and a Senior Manager in the audit practice of Andersen LLP.
Angela is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the AICPA, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Virginia Society of CPAs, Leadership Greater Washington (Class of 2004), and NABA. She has received numerous awards from NABA, where she is a lifetime member and three-term past Chairman of the Board, past co-chair and member of the Chairman’s Advisory Council, and Co-Chair of the Senior Finance Executives Symposium Committee.
Angela currently serves on the Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Audit Committee of Trinity University of Washington, the Women’s Advisory Board of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC), the GSCNC Board Governance Committee. She is a former member and assistant treasurer of the GSCNC Governing Board and Officer’s Committee, and a Lifetime member of Girl Scouts USA. She also served on the GSCNC 100th Anniversary Fund Development Committee. She is a past officer and member of the Governing Board of the DC Chamber of Commerce and co-chair of the Strategic Planning committee; the board of directors and treasurer of Mentors Inc.; and a Past President of the American Heart Association National Capital Region, member of the National Board’s Audit Committee, Women and Minorities Leadership Committee, and the Programs and Budget Committee. She also represented KPMG on the Howard University Center for Accounting Education Advisory Board and the Corporate Advisory Board of the Association for Latino Professional in Accounting and Finance Association (ALPFA).
Angela is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the Washington, DC and the Commonwealth of Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Virginia State University.
