Allyson Frazier has been a professional in the field of public affairs for close to two decades. Recently she became the Campaign Research and Development Manager for Voices for Healthy Kids. VFHK, a joint initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the American Heart Association, works to help all young people eat healthier foods and be more active. By engaging, organizing, and mobilizing people in communities across the United States, Voice for Healthy Kids will help make the healthy choice the easy choice in the places that children live, learn, and play.
Previous experience at the American Heart Association had Allyson responsible for planning and implementing advocacy campaigns from start to finish including one-state and multi-state campaigns, with a strong focus on campaign planning and execution including lobbying, grassroots tactics and volunteer engagement; maximizing the impact volunteers can make in the public policy arena.
Prior to joining the American Heart Association, Allyson was the campaign manager of Clean Air Works, the success campaign making Boston one of the first major cities to go 100% smoke-free in all workplaces, and ultimately paving the way for a smoke-free state law. Her prior experience was in implementing and monitoring public health laws and regulations in 5 large, urban communities including Cambridge, MA which provides her an excellent understanding of the process of implementing changes once a bill becomes a law. Allyson was awarded a Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University in 1998 specializing in community based strategies and a BA from American University in International Studies. Allyson, the mother of three small children, currently sits on the Board of multiple nonprofits and is extremely active in her community in Massachusetts.
