Alan Tawshunsky is Special Counsel in the Office of the Benefits Tax Counsel (BTC), at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. In that position, he participates in the review and analysis of published guidance, legislative proposals and litigation related to the employee benefits provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, including the provisions related to health care reform. Prior to joining BTC, Mr. Tawshunsky managed the employee benefits group in the National Office of IRS Chief Counsel and was in private practice with several large law firms in Washington, DC.
