Alan Goodkin serves as a Managing Director of Ackman-Ziff, which he joined in 2000. Alan has originated, structured and closed over $3 billion in debt and equity transactions on a variety of asset types including retail, office, hotel, multifamily and land. In 2005, his financing of the conversion of the Watergate Hotel was awarded the Best in Real Estate Deal Award for Financing" by the Washington Business Journal.
Prior to joining Ackman-Ziff, Alan was a vice president in the capital markets group of Sonnenblick-Goldman Company, where he was responsible for many of the firm's debt, equity and origination relationships and transactions, and was actively engaged in the origination, underwriting, structuring and sale of over $1 billion of investment sales of properties and notes. Before that, Alan was a member of a loan workout group at FGH Realty Credit Corporation, a subsidiary of Aegon Insurance, where he conducted the analysis, restructuring and foreclosure of over $300 million of defaulted loans. He started his career as an associate at Wilson, Pleus & Company, a real estate and venture capital firm, where he gained experience in the acquisition, renovation and subsequent conversion of multifamily rental properties into condominium ownership.
Alan earned a B.A. in Accounting from Washington and Jefferson College and M.S. in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University
