Alan Giehl is the senior director of the northern business unit for DCP Midstream. DCP Midstream is the nation's largest natural gas processor, largest natural gas liquids (NGLs) producer and the third largest NGL pipeline operator. Alan has 35 years of experience in the energy industry. He began his career in 1980 at Mobil Oil Corporation in a variety of accounting roles. In 1996, as commercial development and acquisitions manager he oversaw the sale of Mobil's natural gas processing business to PanEnergy (now DCP.) After the sale he joined PanEnergy (DCP) serving as joint venture asset manager and planning and corporate development manager before moving to the financial planning and analysis role (FP&A.) For ten years he managed and coordinated FP&A for all divisions of DCP as senior director. Recently he became senior director of the northern business unit with responsibilities involving operations and commercial activities. His areas of expertise include corporate development, economic modeling for large-scale acquisitions, budgeting and forecasting, contract negotiation and tax/book/partnership/equity accounting. Alan also teaches a senior/graduate level seminar at The University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, "Financial Issues in the Energy Industry." Alan was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Administration (accounting emphasis) from the University of Colorado. Alan and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters and a son. They reside in Boulder, Colorado.
