Chair, Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board

George Scott is well known within the state and local government and education sectors for his extensive knowledge and expertise in accounting, financial reporting, and auditing related issues and is frequently looked to as a resource for shaping conversations and regulatory guidance in these areas.

George was appointed to the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) effective January 1, 2016 and on July 1, 2019 became the Chair of FASAB. The FASAB serves the public interest by improving federal financial reporting through issuing federal financial accounting standards and providing guidance after considering the needs of external and internal users of federal financial information. The FASAB plays a major role in fulfilling the federal government's responsibility to be publicly accountable by providing guidance for federal financial reports that are useful in assessing the government's accountability and its efficiency and effectiveness, and the economic, political, and social consequences, whether positive or negative, of the allocation and various uses of federal resources.

George is a retired partner of Deloitte LLP and for more than 39 years served in numerous leadership roles at a local, state, regional, national and international levels in both management and industry areas of the firm. In these roles George was responsible for strategic planning, technical services (audit, accounting, tax and consulting), relationship development, eminence and brand enhancement and account management for local, state government, education and non-profit clients.

George was recognized as a Federal and State Compliance specialist within Deloitte and served as one of the thought leadership senior partners on such issues as government operations, efficiencies, process improvement and government innovation.
