James Nowasell CPA

James Nowasell is the Controller for The Weitz Company, and is based in Des Moines, Iowa. As a leader of the finance team, he oversees the day-to-day accounting, reporting, treasury, and tax functions. James has over 10 years of accounting experience in the construction industry, serving in multiple finance roles during that time. Prior to joining The Weitz Company, James spent several years in public accounting serving the Des Moines and Omaha markets.

James has degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and obtained his CPA license in 2010. He is an active member of both the AICPA and the IASCPA. He and his wife live south of Des Moines on an acreage with their two children and several hobby animals. When away from work, he enjoys spending time in the garden, playing sports with his two young boys, and traveling with his wife.
