Robert "Rob" Malone is the Director of Exempt Organizations and Government Entities (EO/GE).

Rob was the Area Director of the Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) Examination Central Area. He was responsible for providing overall leadership and direction of SB/SE field examination activities in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Within SB/SE, Rob has also held the positions of Acting Area Director, Examination Southwest Area, Acting Director, Legislative Program Coordination, Acting Director of Servicewide Operations, and Program Manager for the Office of Servicewide Penalties.

Rob began his career with the IRS in 2008 as a Tax Law Specialist (TLS) with Tax Exempt/Government Entities (TE/GE), Exempt Organizations. From there he became a TLS in TE/GE's Office of the Senior Technical Advisor and then Acting Supervisory Tax Law Specialist of Exempt Organizations, Guidance. Rob has also served as the Acting Director, Exempt Organizations Rulings and Agreements, and as the Branch Chief (Supervisory Attorney) for the Legal Analyst Branch of the Office of Professional Responsibility.

Before joining the IRS Rob was in private practice with a law office in the Washington metropolitan area. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia and has appeared in appellate matters before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia. Rob received a B.S. in Business Management and Administration from the University of Maryland University College and is a graduate of Widener University School of Law, where he received a JD.
