Lewis is a CPA specializing in serving nonprofit organizations. He has successfully conducted over 1,500 nonprofit audits and served over 250 nonprofit organizations, large and small and in all sectors of the nonprofit community, as their CPA.

Lewis is also a leader in the Certified Public Accountant community. He was the 2018-19 chair of the 45,000-member strong California Society of CPAs, where he has chaired several committees, and he is currently serving as a voting member of its governing body, Council. Lewis also currently serves on Council, on the Awards Committee and on the Professional Ethics Executive Committee of the 430,000-member strong American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Prior to founding his firm, Lewis Sharpstone & Co www.sharpstonecpa.com, Lewis spent two and a half years with a national firm leading the firm's nonprofit practice in the West Region, 27 years with a regional firm where he founded and lead the nonprofit practice among other things and seven years with a big 4 accounting firm.

Since 2016 Lewis has taught the Ethics in Accounting course at California State University Long Beach. His course is currently the capstone class in the Master's program.

Lewis has always been active in the community. He is currently serving on the board of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, www.eifoundation.org, who's major program is Stand Up 2 Cancer, and serves as the advisor to the Audit Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Previously Lewis served on the boards of the Southern California Center for Nonprofit Management, the Dubnoff Center and Temple Kol Tikvah. he Entertainment Industry Foundation, who's major program is Stand

Lewis received his B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Manchester, England and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
