James A. Lodoen JD

James A. Lodoen is a partner in the Minneapolis office of Ballard Spahr, LLP. Jim represents lenders, debtors, trustees, committees and buyers in bankruptcy cases, receiverships and workouts. He has represented the Chapter 11 Trustee and the liquidating trust of Petters Company Inc. and the Receiver of Thomas Petters which representation has included the unwinding of the Ponzi scheme, litigating billions of dollars of clawback claims and liquidation of assets. He has represented numerous buyers and sellers of assets and business in Bankruptcy Section 363 sales, including representing Polaroid Corporation as debtor-in-possession. He is a former judicial law clerk to the Honorable William A. Hill, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of North Dakota. Jim is regularly recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers including being recognized as Best Lawyers 2014 and 2018 Minneapolis Bankruptcy-Litigation “Lawyer of the Year.” Jim is board certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification and is a Fellow in the American Bankruptcy College.
