Damon Romano is a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA) at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Damon's responsibilities include working with registrants, the Commission's Division of Corporation Finance, and the Commission's Division of Investment Management on consultation requests regarding accounting and reporting matters; following the activities of U.S. and international accounting standard setters; and participating in developing the Commission's rule proposals. He focuses primarily on technical accounting matters involving financial assets and derivatives, business combinations, consolidations, debt, and equity.

Prior to joining the Commission in August of 2019, he was a Practice Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). Before that, he worked in KPMG's audit practice.

Damon has a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and New York.
