James (Jim) Hart is the managing member of Lightfoot Group, LLC an Atlanta forensic services consulting firm he founded in 2002. Lightfoot provides specialty financial consulting services to clients in situations involving bankruptcy/insolvency, financial restructuring, business valuation, insurance and creditor claims, personal and commercial damages, litigation, family and business dispute resolution, and court appointed matters.

Jim’s professional experience includes serving with U.S. Bankruptcy Court approval as a financial consultant or accountant for the bankruptcy estate in numerous Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcies, including several Ponzi-scheme cases. He has also served as a consultant for creditor committees in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases. Additionally, since 1996, he has been court appointed numerous times in state and federal courts as a receiver, auditor, special master, and monitor.

Jim currently serves as a CFF and ABV Mentor and is member of the CFF Exam Development Task Force. He has taught business valuation, fraud and bankruptcy courses for national and local conferences sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), the Georgia Society of CPAs and the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). He has co- authored a chapter on bankruptcy & insolvency in Wiley’s 2010 Family Law Services Handbook. He also co-authored AICPA Consulting Services Practice Aid 02-1, Business Valuation in Bankruptcy. Jim is a frequent speaker on forensic accounting, bankruptcy and business valuation topics.
