Jorge J. Garcia

Jorge is currently Senior Vice President and Corporate Comptroller for Popular, Inc. Popular is a diversified publicly-owned financial holding company traded on the NASDAQ with approximately $60 billion in assets with operations in Puerto Rico, the U.S. mainland and Caribbean. He is responsible for the oversight of a broad range of functions including the general accounting, SEC and regulatory reporting, tax, capital plan management and financial planning and analysis functions.
Jorge has been at Popular since 2005. He held various positions at Popular's U.S. based banking subsidiary, including the roles of Vice President of Strategic Planning and Analysis and Director of Finance and Accounting. In 2012, He assumed his current role of Principal Accounting Officer for Popular at its headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Jorge received his BBA degree in Accounting at The University of Iowa in 1994 and passed the Illinois CPA examination in 1995. Jorge started his career in 1994 at Price Waterhouse LLP.
