Joseph Lake is Chief Operating Officer at The Climate Service (TCS), a leader in climate risk analytics for investors and businesses. Based in New York, Lake plays a key role in building strategic partnerships and meeting the rapidly expanding demand for the TCS Climanomics® platform, software that puts a price on climate risk and enables reporting and disclosure consistent with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Prior to this appointment, Lake was the Managing Director for Climate Risk at The Economist. He launched The Economist's inaugural Climate Risk Summit and led The Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) climate risk consulting services. Before this, he was a Global Director at the EIU, responsible for the B2B subscription research business, where he led a global team that comprised sales, analysts and marketing. In all, he has more than 15 years of professional experience providing insight and analysis to corporations, policymakers, and private clients. He is a frequent speaker at international events and is regularly interviewed by major television and print media.

Lake holds degrees in business management from Dublin City University, Ireland and Reims Management School, France. He holds a Master's degree in economic development from the University of Nottingham. He has contributed chapters to two books: Africa South of the Sahara (Routledge, 2014) and Megatrends: the World to 2050 (Nikkei, 2015).
