Nicholas Katzakis CPA

Nick Katzakis is the CFO of United Church of Christ (UCC), a U.S.-based mainline Protestant Christian denomination with one million members, a $33M annual operating budget, and a $300M investment portfolio. He is responsible for overseeing UCC's financial, IT, and real estate operations in accordance with GAAP and best financial and management practices. Nick is a Board Director for UCC; 700 Prospect Avenue, LLC, a UCC-owned commercial real estate venture; and UCC's Church Building and Loan Fund Board. He is currently leading the financial transformation of UCC through the implementation of a best in class cloud software solution for non-profit organizations.

As the financial leader, Nick has successfully completed numerous other financial transformations of nonprofits, public and private companies, including: the reorganization of the Archdiocese of Chicago's finance department where he led the implementation of a new financial reporting and budgeting system; ConnectWise.com, Inc., a global business management software platform developer, where in less than a year, Nick transformed this private company's cash-based system to public company processes that utilized best in class International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); IMG Worldwide Holdings, Inc., a $1.7B+ privately held international sports, media and entertainment company, where he led a team of international finance professionals in streamlining comprehensive financial reporting in over 30 international offices to ensure compliance with US GAAP on complex international transactions and operational accounting; Ferro Corporation, a $2.2B global specialty materials company where Nick transformed financial operations in 23 countries; and at U-Store-It, a $1.7B asset self-storage operator with 400+ locations, where Nick built the accounting capabilities, including forecasting, SEC reporting and compliance, business metrics, and general accounting, that enabled U-Store-It to seamlessly double its revenue size within 10 months of going public.
Nick started his career as a Senior Auditor for Deloitte (fka Touche Ross & Company) before moving into corporate finance. He has a BBA in Accounting from Kent State University, an MBA from Cleveland State University, and is an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
