Professor Benjamin Alarie holds the Osler Chair in Business Law at the University of Toronto. He earned law degrees from the University of Toronto and Yale Law School. Prior to his academic career, Alarie served as a law clerk to Madam Justice Louise Arbour at the Supreme Court of Canada. He has published extensively in journals such as the Canadian Tax Journal, the British Tax Review, and Tax Notes. He is the author of dozens of publications, including several editions of Canadian Income Tax Law (LexisNexis). His most recent book is, The Legal Singularity: How Artificial Intelligence Can Make Law Radically Better (University of Toronto Press, 2023). Beyond his academic career, Alarie is the co-founder and CEO of Blue J, a leading legal technology company that leverages AI to radically improve tax research.
