John is an Audit partner in KPMG's national office, its Department of Professional Practice in New York, the firm's technical advisory group serving its clients and personnel in the areas of accounting, regulatory, and auditing issues. Prior to that, he served one of the firm's larger financial services clients, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services North America. In addition, he is an SEC reviewing partner serving various public banks and other financial institutions. Previously, John was the lead Audit partner on HSBC North America Holdings, Inc. Prior to his transfer to Chicago in mid-2008, John was responsible for oversight of the audit of Countrywide Financial Corporation's mortgage banking and capital markets segments. During his career, he has served a diversified client base of multinational commercial and investment banks that conduct trading and corporate finance activities in the global capital markets.

John joined KPMG in New York in 1987. The majority of his career has been spent serving multinational financial services clients including HSBC, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, and Credit Suisse. His focus has included accounting for various financial instruments and structured transactions, specifically accounting for derivatives and hedging activities, and sales of various financial assets. In addition, he worked closely in the development of the firm's methodology for an audit of internal control over financial reporting. John also has extensive experience as auditor/advisor with SEC clients.

Most recently, John has been involved with various mortgage banking and banking businesses. John's prior client engagements included various commercial banking activities such as commercial lending, corporate and project finance, and securities investing. In addition, John has also handled engagements in investment banking activities such as equity, fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives trading businesses. His specialization has included numerous assignments in accounting/auditing, operations, and risk management advisory services.

John is a firm-designated specialist in the area of financial instruments, derivatives, and hedging. He is also a Regulation AB concurring review partner.
