Rick Arpin is the Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Development for MGM Resorts International. Rick’s responsibilities include oversight of arena operations, including the Company’s new 20,000-seat sports and entertainment arena and the MGM Grand Garden Arena, as well as coordination of the variety of entertainment venues at MGM.
Rick was previously Corporate Controller of MGM Resorts, leading its shared services for Finance and the Treasury function. Rick has been part of corporate finance projects as wide-ranging as the $8 billion acquisition of Mandalay Resort Group in 2005, the $750 million sale of Treasure Island in 2009, and raising almost $4 billion of debt and equity capital from 2008 through 2010. Rick has been with MGM Resorts since 2002. Previously, he was with the Las Vegas office of Arthur Andersen, a large public accounting and consulting firm.
Rick has been recognized numerous times for his professional accomplishments. In 2013, Rick received the Shared Services Thought Leader of the Year award from SSON, and was named the Institute of Finance & Management’s Controller of the Year. In 2012, he was named UNLV’s Accounting Alumnus of the Year. In 2010, he was named to Treasury and Risk Magazine’s “40 Under 40” list.
Rick is active in the gaming industry and in the community. Rick is a member of the organizing committee for the Nevada Society of CPAs’ Annual Gaming Conference (and Chair twice) and was also the Chair of the Steering Committee for the AICPA Hospitality Industry Conference in 2013 and 2014. He is a member of the AICPA and the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Board of Directors of the UNLV Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Campus Improvement Authority Board from 2013 to 2014 which studied the feasibility of a new on-campus stadium for UNLV.
Rick holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the Lee Business School at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Rick is a licensed CPA in Nevada and is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
