Duncan Gates CFP

Duncan entered the financial service industry in 2006 when he joined HD Vest. Supporting HD Vest advisors with expertise in both taxes and financial planning, he is an Enrolled Agent and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. Currently, he serves as the firm’s Wealth Management Strategist. In this role, Duncan is responsible for the development of deeper relationships with both HD Vest Advisors and their clients, focusing on the integration of taxes into the financial planning discussion, especially in relationships with high net worth clients in excess of $10million in investable assets.

Duncan graduated from Texas A&M University, earning degrees in accounting and finance. During his tenure at HD Vest, he has furthered his education by obtaining the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), and Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designations, as well as the Series 7 and 63 licenses and life insurance license in Texas.

Duncan and his wife Amber have two children – a boy and a girl. A diehard baseball fan, he is currently working on his goal of visiting all 30 MLB stadiums across the country. He is also heavily involved in his community’s youth sports program, serving as commissioner and coach for girls’ softball.
