Eloise Scavella

Chief Operating & Strategy Officer, American Diabetes Association

Eloise Scavella is Chief Operating and Strategy Officer of the American (ADA), the nation's largest voluntary health organization and a global authority on diabetes. Since 1940, the ADA has been committed to its mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Eloise is responsible for managing the operations of the ADA, which includes our Information, Technology and Systems, Human Resources and Legal Affairs, to drive its sustainable growth. She is also responsible for leading and overseeing the development, execution and monitoring of the ADA's strategic plan internally and externally.

Prior to Eloise joining the ADA, she was the Vice President of Global Learning and Development at Walmart. She was tasked with finding, developing and moving critical talent in the organization, empowering talent to individually author their careers, drive experiential learning to prepare leaders for future business models and leverage data-driven insights to identify, select and position leaders in the business.

Prior to Walmart, she worked at Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas for 11 years. One of the world's most diversified casino-entertainment provider and the most geographically diverse U.S. casino-entertainment company. She served in various capacities including Associate General Manager responsible for working with property leadership on the day-to-day operations of the hotel and casino. She also served as Corporate Vice President of Employment and Training overseeing Talent Acquisition, Training, Human Resources Information Systems, and provided strategy and counsel for HR leaders, property leaders and human resource practitioner. Her team worked to introduce industry changing initiatives including a robust veterans hiring initiative called Caesars Enlisting Heroes (Caesars Entertainment awarded the Green Zone Employer award), Training Top 150 Award recipient, introduction of Forbes Mobil Travel Guide (Caesars Palace awarded 4 star rating within first year), introduction of Six Sigma & Lean Management and Employee Engagement (Caesars Entertainment), and a collage of robust recruitment programs to attract fresh, new talent into the gaming and entertainment business.

Before attending graduate school, she worked in The Bahamas at the Atlantis Resort and Casino overseeing Talent Acquisition and prior as an English Language and Literature educator for The Ministry of Education.
