Michael Slevens

Michael Slevens leads Tax Recourse, LLC. and has over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate and ad valorem tax appeal representation. Michael began his career as an assistant appraiser hired by a commercial appeal firm, becoming Generally Certified in the state of New Jersey in 1994. He has held positions throughout his career in both the Property Tax Consultant field, such as a Senior Property Tax Consultant for Deloitte & Touche, LLP, as well as the Corporate Tax field, holding the position of director of Property Tax for Toys “R” Us, corporation. Having worked on both sides Michael is uniquely positioned to understand the needs of commercial clients regarding the protest and appeal process. Throughout his career he has and continues to represent clients with large commercial portfolios, such as, Office Depot, Landry’s Restaurants, KinderCare, and Walgreens. Michael’s extensive experience in commercial property tax appeals has developed him as an expert in negotiating values, and identifying long term tax saving strategies for commercial property owners. Michael is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in New Jersey and Texas and is a registered Senior Property Tax Consultant with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
