National Managing Partner of Professional Practice, Audit Services, Grant Thornton LLP

Kendra Decker is the national managing partner of Grant Thornton LLP’s Professional Practice within the firm’s Audit Quality and Risk group. In this role, she is responsible for leading the firm’s various professional practices — including Accounting Principles, Independence, SEC Regulatory Matters and the Professional Practice Director group — which support the firm’s foundational goals around quality and managing its risk.

Kendra has over 25 years of financial reporting, accounting and auditing experience. She began her professional career in 1997 in the Audit practice of Grant Thornton, where she served a wide array of public and private companies, primarily in the financial services and technology industries. In that role, she was responsible for developing audit plans, analyzing internal controls and policies, supervising audit personnel in performing audit procedures, preparing audit reports, and rendering recommendations for improved operations.

After 10 years of providing audit services, she transitioned her focus to SEC regulatory, financial reporting and compliance issues. In her most recent role prior to becoming the national managing partner of Professional Practice, she served as the firm’s partner-in-charge of SEC Regulatory Matters, where she assisted the firm’s Audit teams in review of SEC filings, including responses to SEC staff comment letters and liaising with SEC staff.

Kendra received her Bachelor of Science in accounting and business management from Salisbury University.
