Emily Fitts is a professional accounting fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Emily focuses primarily on matters involving independent audits, including oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) on audit policy related matters, and assessments of internal control over financial reporting. Emily’s responsibilities also include following the activities of international auditing standard setters, consulting with registrants on internal control matters and related reporting, supporting other divisions and offices of the SEC in their interactions with registrants and auditors, and participating in the development of the SEC’s rule proposals.

Prior to joining the Commission in 2016, Emily worked in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s National Office in Wilton, Connecticut, and audited SEC registrants located in Seattle, Washington, and Atlanta, Georgia.

Emily earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting and Master of Accountancy degree from Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Emily is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Georgia.
