David X. Martin is an expert in cyber security having co-chaired a public/private initiative with the FBI and major corporations on intelligence sharing and best practices, consulted with the Central Bank of Israel on cybersecurity audits of Financial Institutions, chaired an information security committee for a public corporation, worked as a senior advisor on cyber security for Oliver Wyman and published numerous articles on innovative approaches to managing cyber security. He is a veteran financial executive whose 40-year career includes senior positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Citibank, and AllianceBernstein.

Mr. Martin is an acknowledged expert on Risk Management. He was the founding Chairman of the Investment Company Institute’s Risk Committee and Co-Chair of the Buy Side Risk Committee, composed of the Chief Risk Officers from the twenty largest asset management firms. He is also an Adjunct Professor at NYU’s and Fordham’s Graduate Schools of Business, and author of Risk and the Smart Investor, published by McGraw Hill in the fall of 2010 and author of The Nature of Risk, published by Amazon in 2012. He has also published numerous white papers on cyber security, compliance and risk, enterprise risk management and corporate governance. He serves as a member of the Sanctions Subcommittee of the US Department of State’s Advisory Committee on International Economy Policy and as a Special Counselor to the Center for Financial Stability on cyber security and emerging risks. He also was formerly on the Senior Advisory Board of Oliver Wyman.

He is currently the co managing director of cybX, a cyber security company that provides consulting services, develops and implements innovative security applications including a cyber video training game and the quantification of cyber security. CybX also has extensive ties with the Israeli technology industry.

While at AllianceBernstein, he served both as Chief Risk officer and a Director of Sanford Bernstein LLC. Mr. Martin has participated in many industry conferences as a featured speaker and expert panel member, and has provided market commentary for Bloomberg Television. At Citibank, working with both John Reed, CEO, and William Rhodes, Vice Chairman, he developed and implemented a comprehensive process of enterprise-wide risk management. He focused on understanding macro-economic trends and security issues, continually reassessing the company’s global risk profile, and proactively managing risk. He worked regularly with the Citicorp Board, rating and regulatory agencies, major corporate clients and investors, payment systems, and sovereigns.

While at PWC, Mr. Martin worked in the IT consulting division developing and implementing systems applications and performing reviews of data centers. He also worked in the litigation support practice and prepared expert witness testimony.

He also is an acknowledged expert on valuation issues having chaired the Alliance Bernstein valuation committee during the crisis. Mr. Martin has extensive experience in investment strategies and operations, quantitative research, exchanges and supervising trading desks. He was asked by the Russian government to help develop the stock exchanges in Moscow, St Petersburg and Novosibirsk. He has lectured at the SEC on stress testing, was an advisor to the Mayor of Shanghai on global trade, and taught an advanced course on risk to Citibank senior country corporate officers.
