VP Finance, Americas, Etihad Airways

In his current role as Vice President, Finance for the Americas and Europe at Etihad Airways, John has been very instrumental in establishing a robust control environment and financial infrastructure to support the company’s aggressive growth plan. Wearing multiple hats as finance leader, business partner and executive management team member, he oversees a multi-million dollar portfolio and serves as a catalyst for change across the company in key functional areas.

Prior to joining Etihad, John spent over a decade with British Airways where he was rapidly promoted to increasingly challenging leadership roles that drew upon his critical thinking, financial management and financial reporting acumen. He built a professional reputation and legacy around developing financial and accounting control policies, financial reporting strategies and operating models that protect company against changing industry, market and customer conditions.

John spent his early career years in diverse leadership roles. From 2001 to 2004, he was a Senior Lecturer for the School of Business and Management for the University of Cambridge (Executive Diploma in Financial Management). He educated graduate students in finance, accounting and economics courses. In 1998, he was elected President/CEO for the Guild of Students at the University of the West Indies. In this strategic role, he was chief strategist for 30K member organization where he oversaw projects, programs and infrastructure and collaborated with extensively with government leaders and international organizations.
