James West CPA

Jim joined the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Durham, NC in April 2007. Jim is a manager in the AICPA Professional Ethics Division. His expertise lies in the independence and behavioral standards of the Code of Professional Conduct. Jim’s main responsibilities include answering technical inquiries from the Ethics Hotline, case investigations, and enriching members’ knowledge through maintaining ethics hotline products on the aicpa.org website. Jim has spoken over the years with various groups regarding topics related to Professional Ethics. Prior to joining the AICPA, Jim worked for a pharmaceutical company as a senior accountant. Jim also worked for the three years at a small CPA firm in Durham, specializing in taxation and in auditing. Jim received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mathematical Sciences--Statistics from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC in May 1993. Jim worked several years as a credit manager at a wholesale distributor. Jim began his accounting coursework in the fall of 1997 and was subsequently licensed as a North Carolina CPA in September 2003.
