Amanda L. Ward, CPA is a partner at Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest accounting and business advisory firms. She serves as the firm’s single audit industry technical leader. In this role, she focuses on quality control, accounting, auditing, and providing technical assistance and training to staff and clients receiving federal assistance. Amanda assists a variety of not-for-profit, healthcare, and other public sector clients with their accounting, auditing, and grants management needs. She is also a member of the Plante Moran’s professional standards team and OMB grant reform task force.
With 16 years at the firm, one of her favorite contributions has been mentoring staff. Coaching younger people is one of her passions. Amanda is inspired by watching people she’s developed as they plan for and meet their own personal and professional goals.
The MICPA Women’s Initiative Task Force selected Amanda as a recipient of its 2017 Emerging Leader Award, an award given to professionals who have made significant contributions to the accounting profession and the community. In 2017, she was also one of the Michigan Chronicle’s Women of Excellence honorees.
Because of her single audit expertise, she frequently speaks on this topic at conferences sponsored by the AICPA, state CPA societies, and industry groups. Amanda is a member of the MICPA, the AICPA, and the National Association of Black Suppliers Scholarship Fund (treasurer). She received her B.S. in business administration with a major in accounting and my M.B.A. from Wayne State University.
Outside of work, she spends time relaxing with family and friends or mentoring teen girls.
