Kim Kipin-McDonald is a sustainable development expert with extensive experience in innovative environmental and outreach initiatives across a variety of sectors. Since Covestro formed in 2015, she has launched renowned programs centered on cross-functional collaboration for advancing energy, emissions, supply chain and inclusive business progress. Kim promotes the potential for every organizational function to contribute to transformative change and she continuously capitalizes on this belief to advance internal efforts, such as landfill diversion, recycling and employee engagement. Her current work focuses on advancing Covestro’s global goals through data management solutions, as well as building key partnerships with customers and external organizations to drive transparency and sustainable materials management. Prior to leading sustainable business development at Covestro, Kim served in multiple positions at Bayer, including regional head of sustainability governance, partnership initiatives for sustainable building and construction, and managing product stewardship and environmental risk assessment programs. Kim developed a passion for motivating people of all ages to appreciate and become active participants in environmental stewardship with her first role at The Pittsburgh Zoo, where she created original programs such as the Education Outreach ZOOmobile. Kim holds a B.A. in biology from the University of Pittsburgh and graduate degrees in both environmental science & management and science education from Duquesne University. In 2018, she was named one of the Pittsburgh Business Times’ “Women of Influence,” which honors women working in the Pittsburgh region who have made a difference in their communities.
