Douglas Simon

Partner, Tactix Real Estate Advisors

Returning after a 5-year stint as Executive Managing Director with a large international brokerage company, Doug is back at home at Tactix, where he began his brokerage career in 2000. After spending time with a "full service" firm that represented both landlords and tenants, Doug determined that a locally owned and managed, conflict-free firm, devoted exclusively to tenant advocacy, was the best platform for ensuring he could achieve the best results for his clients. Doug returns to Tactix as the newest of three principals.

Doug brings to Tactix a wealth of transactional experience as well as legal training from his years of practice as a real estate attorney at one of the region’s premier law firms. Because of his unique skill sets and expertise, Doug has consistently been recognized as one of the top tenant brokers in the region. During his over 15+ year career exclusively dedicated to tenant representation, Doug has represented some of the region’s top law firms and related groups, including multiple leases for Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, Post & Schell, Fox Rothschild, and White and Williams.

Doug has also employed his skills and expertise to assist clients in the legal nonprofit and public interest fields. By way of example, Doug recently secured a long term home for both Philly VIP, the pro bono wing of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and HAP, the Homeless Advocacy Project. Doug was also the lead member of the team that helped secure long term leases in the City for Community Legal Services and Philadelphia Legal Assistance, two nonprofit firms providing legal assistance to low-income Philadelphians. Doug has also been a champion for his hometown, twice representing VisitPhilly, the City’s official regional attraction marketing agency.

Prior to rejoining Tactix in 2016, Doug spent five years as an Executive Managing Director at one of the country’s largest, full service brokerage firms where he spearheaded their tenant representation practice and was responsible for presenting the tenant portion of their annual state of the market report attended by over 250 people. While at the full service firm, Doug experienced firsthand the challenges that arise when trying to represent both landlords and tenants in the same market. While he obtained valuable insights into the landlord side of the business, he realized that to effectively represent the interests of tenants and eliminate conflicts of interest, he needed to once align himself with a firm whose sole focus in the market was driving down rents. Before pursuing a career as a commercial real estate broker, Doug was an associate in the real estate group at Montgomery McCracken, Walker & Rhoads where he focused on commercial, industrial and retail leasing, as well as construction and general real estate law.
