Lawson Carmichael

Lawson is the COO ​for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. In this role, Lawson leads longer- and shorter-term strategy development and enterprise risk management, human capital, strategic intelligence, new product and business model innovation, strategic partnerships and governance related activities including supporting the Board of Directors and American Institute of CPA's Council. Prior to joining the American Institute of CPAs, Lawson worked for Deloitte as director, corporate strategy. He was responsible for leading corporate and business unit growth strategies, developing long-term corporate strategic positioning and maximizing profit opportunities, as well as building and sustaining talent. Prior to Deloitte, Lawson served as managing director for Proxicom, a global eBusiness consulting firm. He also held several consulting roles advising healthcare organizations on strategy and organizational development. Lawson holds a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communications from Towson University and a certification in Financial Management from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Lawson, his wife Sherri, and two daughters reside in Chapel Hill, NC.
