Nigel Franklyn CPA, CGMA

Formerly VP, Asset and Liability Management Finance, The Prudential Insurance Company of America

Nigel is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Most recently Nigel was Vice President of ALM Finance - Financial Reporting, where he oversaw the reporting function of Prudential Financial Inc. (PFI or Prudential) General Account investment portfolio. He and his team were responsible for managing the preparation of the investments and fair value disclosures and footnotes within the PFI 10Q/K, and Prudential's other legal entities stand-alone financial statement filings. Nigel was also responsible for the oversight of certain controllership functions within ALM Finance, including investment related SOX compliance and internal controls.

Nigel recently completed an overseas assignment as Head of Accounting and Finance at PFI Mega Life (PML), an Indonesian Insurance joint venture. Nigel was a member of the senior management team and was responsible for all accounting and finance activities, including but limited to financial and regulatory reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and accounting operations. During his time at PML, Nigel built an operating model focused improving the availability and accuracy of information for management decision making. on improving organizational effectives. He strengthened organization effectiveness through the key lenses of people, processes and systems which resulting in improved functional competency and capability, improved designed and implementation of reporting and operational controls, and improved efficiency through the integration of processes and information systems.

Prior to his most recent assignment, Nigel was Vice President-Financial Reporting for Prudential International Insurance's Asia ex-Japan region, and was primarily responsible for U.S. GAAP financial reporting for operations in Korea, Taiwan, India, and Malaysia. While in this role, Nigel spent significant time in Prudential's Malaysia JV operations. In Malaysia, Nigel lead, on an interim basis, the finance function through a CFO transition. While conducting the handover, numerous performance improvement observations were noted during the annual regulatory examination and stayed on to work with the CFO to create and lead a remediation plan to reshape the culture and address the current and future functional needs.

Nigel has held leadership roles at Standard Chartered (Head of Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations, Americas Region), Morgan Stanley (Vice President, Internal Audit) and KPMG (Senior Manager, Audit – Financial Services).

Nigel has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Harlem Symphony Orchestra, and as the Director of the Professional Development Committee of the National Association of Black Accountants NYC Chapter (NABA NY). He was awarded the NABA NY Professional Member of the Year in 2017.

Nigel graduated from Hunter College, where he is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. During his time at Hunter, Nigel was a two-time National Champion and five-time All-American track and field athlete. For recreation, he competes in triathlons, plays golf, and rides a motorcycle.
