Ms Aspinwall works with employers, executives and compensation consultants across the country to design innovative ways to provide incentive, equity, retirement, deferred compensation, and welfare benefits to employees, artists and highly compensated executives. Her expertise combines aspects of tax, ERISA, insurance, labor, securities and bankruptcy law to uniquely qualify her to help employers and compensation consultants structure innovative compensation packages for upper management and key employees, artist and athletes. She has worked for many years with members of the insurance industry to structure the most effective insurance funded compensation and benefit arrangements. She is experienced at structuring compensation packages for all types of public, private and tax-exempt entities including religious organizations, private equity firms and agricultural cooperatives.

Marla is an active member of the American Bar Association and the California State and Los Angeles County Bar Associations and has authored white papers for delegations to federal and state legislatures regarding the application of Internal Revenue Code Section 409A to the entertainment industry. She co-authored the American Bar Association publication Taxation and Funding of Nonqualified Deferred Compensation and the Matthew Bender pamphlet Critical Issues in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act: Compensation Committee.

As a member of the Employee Benefits Committee of the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters, Marla has been actively involved in lobbying efforts to influence and comment upon recent legislative and regulatory developments as they apply to deferred compensation and welfare benefits. Marla is listed in Best Lawyers in America and a member of the Nomination Committee of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
