Jim Harden is Hein & Associates’ National Valuation Leader. In his 34-year career, he has led hundreds of global energy-sector engagements. Jim’s work has supported federal, international and state and local tax matters, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, insurance, bankruptcy and litigation purposes.

His clients have included major and independent oil and gas companies, royalty trusts, onshore and offshore drillers, oilfield service companies, upstream and midstream MLP’s, and oil refiners, and petrochemical companies. Jim has also served energy clients as an expert witness before courts in Delaware, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado, as well as state and local tax boards and tribunals. His professional experience includes serving as the Global Oil and Gas Valuation Leader at Ernst & Young. Early in his career, he worked at Texaco Inc., and was a partner in an oil and gas exploration and production company operating in the Midcontinent.

Jim has dual BS degrees from Ft. Hays State University and an MBA from LeTourneau University. He is a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA - Certified in Technical Valuations – Oil and Gas), Certified Professional Geologist (CPG), and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Economic Geologists and the AICPA. He has been published by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Oil & Gas Financial Journal and other professional publications, and has been named by the Houston Business Journal and the American Cities Business Journals as a “Who’s Who in Energy”.
