After serving in the Navy, David began his automotive career in 1981 and spent the next 10 years honing his skills and reputation as a top performing dealership F&I manager, sales manager and General Sales Manager. In 1992, he began working at Smythe European and attained the position of president and GM. During his tenure there, he earned numerous honors from Wards Automotive including top 5 volume in the U.S. for both the Mercedes Benz and Volvo brands, the #1 net profit dealership, #1 in Fixed Ops revenues, and lowest employee turnover in the U.S. Following that, as a Market President for AutoNation, he was responsible for operations of AutoNation’s dealerships in Northern California and Washington during which his region consistently experienced the lowest employee turnover while also earning some of the highest customer satisfaction scores across AutoNation’s dealerships. In 2008, he created ReverseRisk to turn information into key insights dealers can use. Most recently, David was a workshop speaker at the Driving Sales President’s Club held in May 2016.
