Patty Covington joined Hudson Cook as a partner in June 2005 and has practiced in consumer financial services since 1997. Prior to 1997, she practiced in the area of bankruptcy and commercial law. Patty’s practice focuses on all areas of consumer financial services law, including auto finance, motor vehicle dealer law, small installment lending, federal regulatory compliance, CFPB-readiness, privacy, data security and information management, electronic commerce, and marketing. She regularly advises motor vehicle dealers, sales finance companies, banks, service providers and other creditors and technology providers on these matters. Prior to joining Hudson Cook, Ms. Covington served as Assistant Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for CarMax Auto Superstores, Inc.

Ms. Covington is a frequent speaker on matters related to the CFPB, regulatory compliance and consumer finance. She is a member of the American Bar Association’s Consumer Financial Services Committee, past Chair and Vice-Chair for the Privacy Subcommittee, and past Liaison to Gatekeeper Task Force. She is a member of the American Financial Services Association’s State Government Relations Committee, Identity Theft & Fraud Committee, Vehicle Finance Board, Operations & Regulatory Compliance Committee and Counsel to the Ancillary Product Working Group. She is a Board Member, Past President, past Vice President, past Treasurer, and Founding Board member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel. Patty is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers and on the Governing Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law. Patty is also a Co-Instructor of the National Automotive Finance Association Consumer Credit Compliance Certification Program.
