Richard N. Sox JD

Richard Sox is the managing partner at Bass Sox Mercer law firm which has focused on the representation of motor vehicle dealers for 30 years. The Firm represents dealers across the United States in dealership franchise issues including disputes with manufacturers, in dealership F & I, advertising and employment compliance issues and in dealership transactional matters including ownership transfers. Mr. Sox specializes in the area of dealership franchise issues including dealership terminations, warranty reimbursement, new point protests, sales incentive price discrimination, audits and chargebacks, transfer turn-downs as well as dealer operator and ownership successor matters. Mr. Sox is responsible for working with the Firm’s dealer association clients as relates to recommending revisions to franchise protections, drafting legislation and providing testimony in support of that legislation. Mr. Sox was most recently lead counsel in successfully defeating the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers’ attack on Connecticut’s motor vehicle franchise laws and counsel on behalf of U.S. Volkswagen dealers in the $1.2B settlement with Volkswagen of America over the diesel-gate scandal.
