Andrew Weill has more than thirty years of experience in all areas of complex commercial litigation, with a particular focus on tax controversies and disputes.

Mr. Weill is a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law, and has represented clients in tax matters before the IRS and in state and federal court throughout his career.

Mr. Weill’s broad experience in all areas of commercial law allows him to bring a unique interdisciplinary understanding to his practice of law. His recent work has ranged from international trade secret and patent lawsuits to advising on employee severance agreements.

Mr. Weill is a leading authority on the tax consequences of aftermarket financial product structures commonly used in the service contract, credit insurance, and debt waiver industries. He advises clients on all aspects of their businesses, from business planning to resolution of tax audits, controversies and compliance issues. His clients in the industry include car dealers and dealerships, domestic and foreign insurance and reinsurance companies, and other entities and individuals involved in aftermarket financial products for the automotive and other retail industries.

Mr. Weill also has significant experience in sensitive family wealth planning, including restructuring estates, preparing for management transitions in family businesses, and resolving intergenerational disputes.

Mr. Weill has been retained as an expert witness in several matters, particularly professional malpractice of attorneys and accountants in tax dispute and tax shelter matters.

Mr. Weill is admitted to practice in front of the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Weill has been voted a Northern California Super Lawyer since 2005 and has extensive experience speaking at conferences. He is a board member of National Association of Dealer Counsel, and has also held board positions for the Windrush School and Lick-Wilmerding High School.
