Associate Director, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants

Kristen Hughes is an Associate Director with Advisory Services and Credentialing at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. Kristen joined the Association in 2010, leads strategy and operations for AICPA advisory credential programs, and serves as staff liaison to the National Accreditation Commission. In this role, she cultivates and manages both domestic and international partnerships to raise awareness, interest and adoption of the ABV, CEIV, CVFI, CFF, CITP and PFS credentials. In addition, she leads the Information Management & Technology Assurance (IMTA) division of the AICPA.

During her time with the AICPA, Kristen has played an integral role in developing and implementing new business models to meet member, market and regulator needs. This includes serving as program manager for the initial joint venture with CIMA, introducing fair value measurement credentials to the market, and making IMTA / technology resources available to all AICPA members at no charge. Kristen’s early career began as a change management consultant with Andersen Consulting LLP (Accenture). She then spent over ten years with Ernst & Young LLP, leading strategy execution for the Americas practice.

Prior to joining the AICPA in 2010, Kristen led strategy for ALSAC, the fundraising arm of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Kristen earned her BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business. She is passionate about the fight against cancer and serves on the Executive Leadership Council to support Light the Night with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Kristen was born and raised in the Washington, DC area and is married with 2 children (Ethan, 16 and Lauren, 13).
