Kath M Carter, CPA, is the Global Business Development Leader for Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) at EY LLP. Based at the firm’s global headquarters in London though residing in Chicago, she has more than 21 years of experience in mergers, acquisitions and divestiture activities with another five years’ experience in auditing. For the five years prior to taking on her current role, Kath was the Managing Partner for the $130 million Midwest Transaction Advisory Services Practice covering a 10 state area in which she led her team to achieve the inaugural Excellence in Market Leadership Award in 2010.

Kath’s broad industry experience includes working with clients in financial services, manufacturing, retail, technology, media, and healthcare services and devices. In addition, she has worked on several cross-border engagements, primarily in Europe. Her cross-border experience ultimately led her to her current global position. She has specialized in carve-outs, particularly large-scale, complex transactions requiring public financing and seller due diligence services; and she has managed the M&A process for various corporations. She has also been an active participant in EY’s inclusiveness and mentorship efforts for which she received the firm’s Rose Marie Meschi Award in 2008 for her efforts in advancing the women of EY.

Kath received her bachelor’s degree in accounting and marketing from Auburn University at Montgomery graduating summa cum laude. She was recognized in 2011 as the Distinguished Speaker and Alumni of her alma mater. She is also a member of the America Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. In 2009, the ILCPA society named her as one of their Women to Watch during their annual award ceremony. She is also on the Board for the Prentice Women’s Hospital, Gift of Adoption and Misa4Love as well as an avid fundraiser on behalf of cystic fibrosis and breast cancer. In 2012, Kath competed in Chicago Dancing with the Stars – Corporate, taking home the MVP award for raising over $147,000. Though she is an avid fitness fan which you can witness on YouTube, it is her family she is most passionate about and loves spending time with her stepdaughter and three granddaughters.
