Emily Walker is vice president of advocacy for the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA). Emily joined the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) in 2003 as regulatory specialist and was promoted to technical services manager in 2007 and government affairs director in 2008. She leads all legislative, regulatory and grassroots activities for the VSCPA as well as supervising the Peer Review and Professional Ethics programs. Emily is a registered lobbyist for the VSCPA and a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Virginia Society of Association Executives (VSAE). She is also a graduate of Nonprofit Learning Point’s Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Program.

Emily works with various technical committees and task forces at the VSCPA including the Tax Advisory Committee, Accounting & Auditing Advisory Committee, Peer Review Committee and Professional Ethics Committee. She also oversees the operations of the VSCPA Political Action Committee (PAC) and works with the VSCPA PAC Board of Trustees.

Emily currently serves on the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) State Policy Priorities Task Force, the ASAE Public Policy Committee, the Tax Policy Committee of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the VSAE Government Affairs Committee, of which she is also a past chair. She is a past member of the AICPA Peer Review Program Administrative Advisory Task Force and was the administrator representative on the AICPA Peer Review Board Oversight Task Force.

Prior to joining the VSCPA, Emily managed the paternity testing laboratory at Commonwealth Biotechnologies in Richmond, VA. She holds a B.S. degree in molecular biology from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and attended law school at the University of Richmond.
