Winell Belfonte is a partner in CohnReznick's Bethesda office and is a leader of the firm's Nonprofit Practice. In this capacity she is accountable for the dissemination and implementation of technical issues surrounding the firm's nonprofit clients. She has more than 25 years of experience. Winell's extensive experience comes in the areas of audit, accounting and tax for a variety of for profit and nonprofit clients including real estate developers, investors, syndicators, contractors and property managers as well as charities and foundations. Her business advisory expertise include strategic planning, the design and implementation of internal control structures, financial analysis, budgets, regulatory compliance and investor requirements. A frequent speaker on accounting and auditing matters, Winell has become well known for her technical expertise. She has spoken to many nonprofit and real estate audiences including the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Annual Governmental and Nonprofit Conference and the Annual Convening of CFOs of Strength Matters, an initiative of Neighborworks America. Winell currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Bowie State University Business School and is a Board member of several nonprofit entities including the Center for Nonprofit Advancement. She is an alumnus of Leadership Greater Washington, class of 2010.
