Kaye F. Sheridan CPA, CGMA, Doctor of Business Administration

Dr. Sheridan holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree in Accounting, from Mississippi State University, a Master of Tax Accounting degree from the University of Alabama and a B.S.B.A. degree in Accounting from Auburn University.

Dr. Sheridan practiced accounting for 15 years before entering academia. Her public accounting career included the positions of managing partner of a local firm in Prattville, Alabama and Director of Accounting Services & Compliance Group with Ernst & Young in Mobile, Alabama.

Dr. Sheridan has served as the Director of the School of Accountancy at Troy University since July 2007. She served as Head of the Departments of Accounting and Finance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from January 2003 until July 2007.

Dr. Sheridan’s teaching interests include taxation and financial accounting. She has taught at Troy University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Mississippi State University, LaGrange College, and Mobile University. Her research interests include tax policy and tax planning issues. Dr. Sheridan’s research has been published in the Journal of Accountancy, The Tax Adviser, Taxes-The Tax Magazine, CPA Journal, Ohio CPA Journal, Strategic Finance, National Public Accountant, Real Estate Taxation and the TSU Business and Economic Review. For the past twelve years, she has co-authored the “Current Rulings and Cases” chapter in The National Income Tax Workbook, which is used by more than 30,000 tax practitioners each year.

Dr. Sheridan serves on the AICPA Individual and Self-Employed Technical Resource Panel. She chairs the Alabama Society of CPAs Federal Taxation Committee and serves as a member of the Alabama Society of CPAs State Taxation Committee. She serves on the American Taxation Association Tax Policy Committee. She served on the AICPA’s Tax Policy and Legislation Committee for the years 2005 through 2007.
