Dedicated, accomplished executive leader with over twenty years of experience with the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, preceded by nine years of professional experience in commercial lending and public accounting. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants December 1998 to present

Support ASCPA staff and their specific departmental projects and programs. Responsible for strategic initiatives of the ASCPA Board and Educational Foundation. Secretary/Treasurer of ALA/CPA/PAC. Liaison to Professional Ethics, By-laws, Taxation and Nominations Committees. Responsible for recruitment and management of ASCPA volunteers for task force groups, committee, conference planning groups, and service projects.

Registered lobbyist for the ASCPA; effective in lobbying the passage of CPA Practice Privilege in 2009; effective in lobbying the passage of the UAA definition of attest in 2014; effective in a collective business effort to pass Taxpayer Bill of Rights in 2014; effective in lobbying and passage of required hours for CPA Exam candidate in 2017; effective in lobbying annual appointments to Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy and appointments to Alabama Securities Commission. Member of the Business Council of Alabama Governmental Affairs Committee, Chair of the Business Council State Taxation Legislative Committee, Current Board Member of Business Council of Alabama.

Selected Accomplishments

Implemented 401(k) plan for staff that increased employee benefits

Spearheaded the development of a re-vamped company website, internet job boards, social media sites, professional networking events for local chapters, career fairs, and print media.

Oversaw company's new building construction, including exterior and interior design, equipment purchases and lease negotiations, and computer and audio-visual layout and design.

Successfully passed by-law amendment to restructure ASCPA governance.

Successfully raised approximately $700,000 for Educational Foundation which increased scholarship amounts and created seven diversity and financial needs scholarships.

Successfully transition the ASCPA Peer Review Administration into a multi-state administration

Deputy Executive Director 2003-2007

Represent the ASCPA at numerous events including chapter events, educational programs, governmental affairs meetings, and state and national boards.

Staff liaison to the GAAF, FAAC, Industry and CPE Committees. Coordinate with each of these committees their annual conference, speakers, topics, and other logistics, and plan the annual CPE schedule. Staff liaison to the Young CPA Board and the Young CPA Charity Golf Committee. Plan, develop and implement new programs, and confer with volunteer task force leaders to evaluate services and programs.

Ensure efficient resource utilization, including staff, technology, production, facilities and finance, and ensure that organizational activities and operations are carried out as planned. Responsible for the management of the website including the implementation of the web/database interface project.

Lead special projects as assigned by the Executive Director and ASCPA Council.

CFO 1998 - 2003

Responsible for the fiscal management and accounting practices of the ASCPA. Prepare and analyze financial statements and departmental financial reports and prepare quarterly financial statements for governing Council which summarize and forecast ASCPA business activity and financial position. Communicate with Secretary/Treasurer regarding financial statement and budget questions. Modify the budget as approved by Council. Assist the Executive Director with the planning and establishment of the annual budget.

Handle routine daily transactions such as cash receipts and cash disbursements and prepare routine monthly reports for CPE, peer review and membership. Prepare monthly financial statements and reconciles cash and investment accounts monthly. Balance all reports from membership, continuing professional education and peer review to general ledger activity. Prepare bi-monthly, quarterly and annual payroll reports. Responsible for the preparation of yearly 1099 and W-2 data and the reconciliation of corresponding federal and state reports.

Schedule audits of the Society and Educational Foundation and preparation of their respective tax returns. Prepare work papers as requested by the independent auditor. Review draft copy of financial statements. Communicate any matters of concern with the Executive Director.

Office Manager 1998-2003

Responsible for directing and coordinating the internal operations of the ASCPA: office operations and procedures, communications and student recruitment; continuing professional education, technical support/website maintenance, membership, flow of correspondence, requisition of supplies, office and building maintenance and other services. Coordinate activities of all staff members and assist all departments as needed. Conduct weekly staff meetings.

Responsible for hiring and training new employees. Troubleshoot and render decisions on personnel issues.

SouthTrust Bank, N.A., Dothan, AL May 1994 - November 1997

Responsible for developing and implementing a compliance program for commercial and consumer lenders; coordinated lender training. Audited loan documentation and reviewed findings with lenders. Performed extensive demographic research which led to the development of a new minority lending program. Coordinated the Right Start Lending Program for SouthTrust Bank, Dothan; an eight-hour educational program structured for minorities. Program increased residential loans of SouthTrust Mortgage Company. Managed the commercial credit department staff and prepared financial forecasts to highlight significant lending opportunities.

Alabama Bankers Association, Montgomery, AL 1992 - May 1994

Chief Financial Officer

Complete financial responsibility for three entities: the Alabama Bankers Association, the Alabama Banking School and the Southern Trust School. Worked closely with the executive director and the staff lobbyist with the governmental affairs program. Responsible for a weekly publication sent to Alabama bankers regarding legislation relevant to financial institutions. Assisted the executive director as an event planner for political candidates fundraising events. Worked as the staff liaison to the ABA Trust Division by planning quarterly meetings and by planning the Annual Trust Conference.
