Richard has a practice focusing on cross-border estate, gift and income tax planning for owners of privately held companies and other high-net-worth U.S. and foreign individuals. He focuses on pre-immigration and pre-expatriation tax planning, offshore trusts, foundations and private investment companies, non-qualified deferred compensation planning for fund manager and C-suite executives, and complex structures involving life insurance (captive insurance, private placement policies, frozen cash value policies). He has been heavily involved in advising international clients on reporting and compliance regimes such as FATCA, UK FATCA and OECD CRS.
