Serena is EY’s Central Region Real Estate Hospitality & Construction (RHC) leader, managing the go-to-market efforts and client relationships across the sector. Serena is also EY’s Global RHC Assurance Leader. EY’s RHC practice has the largest integrated real estate practice of any accounting organization, with more than 12,000 professionals around the world providing audit, tax, transaction, and real estate advisory services to real estate owners, investors, lenders, and users – including many REITs, homebuilders, and developers. Combining entrepreneurial thinking and a working knowledge of real estate issues with broad real estate experience, vast resources, and a diverse network of clients and contacts we help our clients address their most challenging issues. 

Serena has practiced for over 18 years, including six years with EY Australia, and 12 years with the US practice. She has spent the last ten years in New York with EY’s Global Real Estate Center (GREC). In 2017 Serena moved to the Chicago area to lead the RHC practice for EY’s Central Region. Serena has worked in a variety of industries including manufacturing, technology and real estate. The last ten years have been focused solely in the real estate practice. Her specialties include Real Estate, Financial Reporting, IFRS, US GAAP, SEC matters. 

In her role as the leader for the Assurance sector for the firm’s Global Real Estate practice, Serena is responsible for cultivating the business, managing resources and delivering exceptional client service for the segment across the globe. She also continues to work with the GREC on analysis of recent industry accounting standards. Serena is active in various real estate trade and not for profit organizations. Serena is the Treasurer of the Finance Committee and Board of Directors for a New York based not for profit, Non-traditional Employment for Women (NEW). NEW helps train underprivileged women in basic construction skills and assists with union job placements. Serena is also involved with NAREIT as Ernst & Young’s representative on the Best Financial Practices Council (NAREIT) and Auditor Discussion Group. Serena is very integrated into the Urban Land Institute (ULI) community. 

She is currently a ULI Trustee, Chair for Global WLI and also the Chair of ULI’s National Audit Committee. Serena earned a BCOM in Accounting from the University of Queensland, Australia and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia. Serena is a CPA in Illinois, California and New York.
